From the side of a mountain on the west coast of British Columbia, a new sound resonates off the waters of Howe Sound – it’s the voice of KAREN FOWLIE.

“An upbeat collection of feel-good ALT. COUNTRY/ROCK songs” describes the original music you’ll hear at Karen’s live shows. Formerly from Alberta, Fowlie is a VETERAN PERFORMER who has given live performances and festival shows since 1997. In 2005, Karen made the move to Sea to Sky country and established herself in the Vancouver scene.

In 2006, Karen was thrilled to work with one of Vancouver’s top producers, Dale Penner (Nickelback, Matthew Good Band, Shawn Hlookoff). Her debut CD “Pushing the Edge” is the result. Now DISTRIBUTED through Adagio Music/Ioda Alliance, it is currently available through iTunes.com and several other online vendors.

Pushing the Edge has had NOTABLE SUCCESS. Over 2007-2008, music from the CD has been added to two compilation CDs (Music BC’s “Make A Case Against Racism”’ and the 2008 Vancouver Artist’s Collective Association (VACA) compilation.

In addition, the single “Happy” was SELECTED TO REPRESENT MUSIC FROM BRITISH COLUMBIA in the 2008 Japan Trade mission. Recently Fowlie also obtained national exposure in 7-11 and Wal-Mart stores as Hevy D Popcorn included “Tell Me” as a free download in their product. “Tell Me” then went on to garner Karen AN ACCOLADE FROM THE BRITISH COLUMBIA ATTORNEY GENERAL.

In this last year, Fowlie was invited to return to Vancouver’s New Music West Festival, gave an exclusive concert in the North Vancouver Sunny Sundays Concert Series and HEADLINED the Copper and Fire Festival.

The future is bright for Karen Fowlie. Her newest song, “Christmas Is Tomorrow’” will be included on “A Very Vancouver Christmas” compilation CD where all funds raised are donated to the BC SPCA. To top things off, Fowlie is in the final stages of production for the MUSIC VIDEO of her single “Tell Me” (release Jan. 2009).
